HIFF - Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival, 2015
Program = Atlantic Auteurs #2 - shorts: 7pm Neptune Studio Theatre, $10 / $7
Atlantic Auteurs #2 - The medium is the message in this showcase of new Atlantic Canadian shorts. Shooting on digital for the first time, Ashley McKenzie continues to examine the marginalized with her no-budget, slice-of-life Four Quarters. Alex Balkam debuts with The Canoe, a beautifully photographed story of nature and trespassing that makes use of color and black & white 16mm. Meanwhile an artist best known to us for her celluloid work, Amanda Dawn Christie, has teamed with Leandre Bourgeois to create HiFi Normal, a degraded VHS portrait of Moncton’s landmark telecommunications tower.
