On leaving the GSN

A new chapter begins: thanks to the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts, I have the means to embark upon a new long term project - Requiem for Radio -- I will be able to live and work as a full time artist on this new media project for the next two years. As a result, I have resigned from my position as director of Galerie Sans Nom, effective August 31. I will help them with the transition to finding and training a new director... then I need to finish the film, Spectres of Shortwave (asap!)... and then I can focus all of my time and energy onto Requiem for Radio -- a project continuing my research on the RCI shortwave towers, but this time using theremins and interactive computer programming to create a live performance, a gallery installation, a dance performance for theremin and radio, a functioning radio sink (the marshland radio plumbing project shall be revived and brought into working receiving order), and a new musical instrument made of cow bone, cow hide, and AM radio transmitters (this instrument will transmit to the sink).... so yes... a new chapter indeed. Very excited and thrilled to be able to work as a full time artist! But nervous and scared too... it's a big step walking away from a secure day job that I love... But it's the right thing to do. Wish me luck!
